Originating from the raffia palm, a giant palm species that is found en masse in Madagascar and some parts of eastern Africa. A tropical, humid climate and a swampy soil are ideal growth criteria for this tree. Under these conditions it grows very quickly and can produce branches of up to 20 metres in length. Each branch consists of 80 to 100 leaves.
