Constructed of blackened wood, the cover covering bearing hand carved coloured rhombuses surrounding a central Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked by a date of 1942, the reverse bearing identical geometric imagery surrounding an inscription that appears to read ANDENKEN GERHARD CLAUDE A MATIUPOLA, possibly referencing the city of Mariupol, unmarked, measuring 13 cm (w) x 8. 5 cm (l)
